Nuzzled quietly into the ancient Kalahari Desert sands, flanked by the giant sets of enormous dunes in the centre of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park, the Kieliekrankie wilderness camp reinforces a guest’s sense of being removed from the commercial camping ebb and flow. Secluded and unfenced, the camp constructed drastically near to a gorgeous watering hole, where wildlife gather from miles around. Amphitheater seating provides guests with breathtaking views of the slowly ambling indigenous residents, as well as their fascinating trails, and large clusters of beautiful birdlife, as they soak in the slowly cooling atmosphere of the Kalahari desert evening.

Accommodation at Kieliekrankie Wilderness Camp is available in a series of rustic dune cabins, incorporating two single beds each per unit, with ceiling fan cooling, fully equipped kitchens with gas-powered fridge-freezer combinations, and wooden decks attached to each unit, with their own braai (barbecue) facilities. One of the cabins is also wheelchair accessible.

Activities including exceptional game viewing are conducted and coordinated by a series of highly skilled and informative guides, with rugged 4 x 4 trails and walking loops snaking in, out, and around the Kieliekrankie Wilderness Camp site being available to guests of the camp specifically. Kieliekrankie also provides numerous fine facilities, including a full laundry service, an on-site bar, and braai (barbecue) areas , as well as a swimming pool.

Kgalagadi park is home to an extensive range of dry-land-condition wildlife, including gemsbok, cheetah, giraffe, eland, Spotted Hyena, springbok, lion, Red Hartebeest, and Short-Tailed Gerbil. Arguably more notable to the area is the park’s huge 280 strong indigenous bird population, including Tawny and Black-breasted (chested) Snake Eagle, Gabar Goshawk, Pale Chanting Goshawk, bateleur, Greater Kestrel, White-backed and Lappet-faced Vulture, and Pygmy Falcon.
