Crowned in a thicket of one of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park’s popular tree savannahs, Nossob Rest Camp makes perfect use of the area’s stunning natural scenery. The camp itself is draped neatly over the dry Nossob river bed, and is understood to be a premium area for the spotting of local predators in the act of stalking other locals at the watering hole. 38,000km² worth of park, Nossob provides premium big-five spotting, and a wonderful, rugged, self-catering camping experience.

Nossob accommodation is provided in twenty camping sites, finished with braai (barbecue) facilities, communal ablutions and laundry areas, as well as electricity points for all the units. Chalet units are fully furnished with ceiling fans, hotplates and fridges, pergolas and braai (barbecue) area, and are all fully wheelchair accessible as well.

Family cottages are also available, equipped with pergolas and barbecues, and bathrooms with basins, showers, and toilets. Two-bed units are also available, as well as three-bed, and four-bed (with a stack bed on the veranda) units. Rooms are all cooled by ceiling fans. A guest house is also available for accommodation, with one two-bed bedroomed unit equipped with ceiling fans, shower and basin, a fully equipped kitchen and pergola with barbecue. Another guest house unit has ceiling fans, a stack bed in the lounge, and a separate toilet, and pergola with barbecue.

Activities at the camp include lectures and slide show screenings relating to the local ecology and wildlife, coordinated holiday programs, night drives and day walks, and 4 x 4 trails and loops, stopping at various interesting sites and points around the park. The camp also includes facilities such as a picnic area, swimming pool, and a secret hide which can be located at the edge of the camp, and is optimally situated for amazing wildlife spotting.

Kgalagadi park is home to an extensive range of dry-land-condition wildlife, including gemsbok, cheetah, giraffe, eland, Spotted Hyena, springbok, lion, Red Hartebeest, and Short-Tailed Gerbil. Arguably more notable to the area is the park’s huge 280 strong indigenous bird population, including Tawny and Black-breasted (chested) Snake Eagle, Gabar Goshawk, Pale Chanting Goshawk, bateleur, Greater Kestrel, White-backed and Lappet-faced Vulture, and Pygmy Falcon.
