The Camp Lilydale’s cozy, self-catering chalets overlook the the open plains and koppies surrounding the Riet River. Situated between dolerite hills, the secluded chalets provide a tranquil space for surrounded by the unique natural beauty of the Nama Karoo. Located 70 kms from the main section of Mokala National Park, the camp offers a secluded escape to total wilderness.
Accommodation
Guests lodge in twelve rustic, traditionally thatched chalets, which each sleep between three and five people. Naturally finished, the chalets echo the calm surroundings of the surrounding landscape.
Activities & facilities
Many activities are available for lovers of outdoor adventure, including mountain biking, walks, canoeing, game drives and excursions to view rock art painting and engravings. For nature lovers, there is star-gazing under the night skies and catch and release fly fishing on the river.
Directions & Maps
From the N12 out of Cape Town, turn left on the Hayfield / Heuningneskloof Crossing gravel road, about 57km from Kimberley, just past the Wintershoek entrance. The Mokala National Park gate is 21km further, on your right hand side. Travel 6km into the park where the main reception building is located. Allow 90 minutes’ drive from Kimberley to the main lodge. Distance from Kimberley to Mokala Mosu main lodge is 84km and from Hopetown to Mokala is 92km. To get to Lilydale you need to turn off just before Modderiver.

• The nearest fuel station on the N12 from Kimberley is in Modderiver or, from Cape Town, 60km from the park at Hopetown.
Wildlife & Vegetation
Savanna Biome and Nama-Karoo Biome interface in the park, mixing thorny acacia woodland and open grasslands, which provides an ideal combination of habitats for antelope and large grazers as well as a an array of birds. Opportunities for birding abound, with unique birds such as the Freckled Nightjar, Short-toed Rock Thrush and Black-chested Prinia being spotted regularly. Mokala is known for its conservation of antelope - the Red Hartebeest, Sable Antelope, and Roan Antelope among them. Guests can also spot Black and White Rhino, Tsessebe, buffalo, and giraffe.
