Mokala National Park is the youngest of the SANParks family members, a sweeping, open plained affair with swatches of camel thorn (for which the park is named) and sand-swept plains, gorgeous at around 80 km SW of the town of Kimberley. Haak en steek, much like Mokala as a whole, is rustic, nestled, as it were, into the woodlands and grasslands of this charming, simple setting.
Guests have their choice of campsites or a rustic bungalow, both self catering. Campsites have no on-site kitchen utilities, but have access to outdoor braai (barbecue) facilities. The Haak en steek bungalow offers one double and two single beds, gas fridge-freezer and stove, gas fridge/freezer, kitchen utensils and cutlery, ablutions and a shower. There is no electricity.
Activities near to the camp site include game and 4x4 trails, bird watching, visits to the teeming waterhole, walking, hiking, and backpacking trails, and game drives.
