Wolwefontein Lodge

A vision of an oasis strikes the traveler as he sees for the first time the magnificent beauty of the Karoo. Beautiful green lands and a forest of Poplar trees lie just below Wolwefontein Lodge. Judy Rous, your gracious hostess, manages the guesthouse and prepares all the meals. She is also a believer in spending time with her guests. Her wonderful tales of Wolwefontein's rich history and life on the magical farm is sure to enchant guests.

Accommodation at Wolwefontein Lodge consists of four very spacious rooms. Each room has its own en-suite bathroom or a private bathroom. All have comfortable beds with crispy sheets for a restful slumber. Two bedrooms can accommodate families of up to four each, a bedroom for two and a cozy bedroom with a fireplace sleeps three.

Dining is always an excellent experience at Wolwefontein Lodge. Hearty warm meals are served in the guesthouse dining room. Breakfast is full English consisting of cereal, yoghurt, fruit (when available), bacon and eggs. Dinners can be served by arrangement and consists of 'home-grown' meat dish (button, beef or chicken), vegetables, salad and dessert.

The large area of the lodge lulls one into a feeling of utmost tranquility and oneness with nature. At Wolwefontein Lodge, children will always be gleefully occupied by fun things to do. There are little orphan lambs to feed most of the year and sometimes even a baby buck. Mares and their foals start to frolic nearby from August and if you are lucky you might see a foaling mare.

Wolwefontein is strategically located for day trips of the outlying areas. Graaf-Reinet is a charming town rich with history and is only 160 km away. The Owl House is only about a100 km away.

Wolwefontein Lodge also has TV facilities in the lounge with DSTV. A barbecue area can be enjoyed under the starlight. Why not take a dip and swim on the reservoir near the stables? The reservoir's fresh cold water is replaced daily by the nearby windmill as the animals' water troughs are filled as well ensuring nature's absolute freshness.

Experience the magical farm life only at Wolwefontein Lodge as we breed racehorses, Arabian horses, Nguni cattle, dual-purpose Merino sheep, Indigenous Goats, ducks and racing pigeons.
