In what used to be the former Kalahari Gemsbok National Park, the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park is home to an abundance of animals. Gemsbok, bat-eared foxes, eland, springbok and blue wildebeest roam through the amazing red-coloured dunes while foraging for food.
Meerkats or Suricates are one of the more popular animals in the park, staring at you from every corner you come across while skittishly staring around themselves, making sure they are not in danger. Watch them rustle up the dunes in large groups while staying together. Their intimate and intricate family structure is wonderful to look at and be a part of. The sparse vegetation and dry riverbeds show all of these animals off to their full spectacular potential while also creating the perfect photo opportunities for the tourist entering their beautiful world. The Park is also well known for its fantastic bird life, so if you are keen to see some amazing antics in flight be sure to look out for it, especially those people interested in birds of prey.
Although everything in the Park is spectacular, the roads cannot be said the same of, even though they are maintained on a monthly basis sedan vehicles are most likely not going to be able to cope, so if you are intending to drive make sure you have a 4x4. Although if you wish to use a sedan they will try their best to make your stay as interesting and memorable as they can!
