Geogap Nature Reserve is striking with its natural beauty offering 600 different indigenous plants including hikes that leave you breathless and exhilarated. This is a fairytale for nature lovers.

A rug of psychedelic colours meets the eye and boggles the mind on a sunny day in Hester Malan’s Wildlife Garden. Situated behind the information office of Geogap Nature Reserve this Eden is a natural marvel of succulents and wildlife, which needs to be experienced before making your way up the trail. The Geokap nature reserve encompasses sandy plains but don’t be fooled at any other time of year by this semi-desert, the natural exhibition of multi-coloured flowers and wildlife that Geogap unmasks is exceptional and your experiences on the 17km circular route whilst hiking are phenomenal. Springbok, Mountain Zebra and Gemsbok are just some of the animals you encounter on this moderately strenuous walk, which you may also drive if you wish.

With so much to take in it must not be forgotten that Geogap is home to the rare plant species called “Half Men”, and the bizarre Kokerboom tree (quiver tree), which produces stunning yellow flowers. This generally arid reserve is also home to many ephemeral plants…timing is everything with these (short life-span) species.
